HI
I submitted my first article today and it was soon rejected (not to be resubmitted). The explanation was that CC don't accept academic-style literary reviews, but having looked at others' work it would appear this is not true. Does this mean this was a polite way of saying my article was not good enough, or have the criteria for submissions now changed? Any clues will be appreciated.
Thanks
unsure about rejection

Re: unsure about rejection
CC's requirements have changed over the years to reflect its customer base. The article may have been exceptional, but not necessarily what CC's customers are looking for.
Re: unsure about rejection
CC's requirements do change over time, so you may see older articles showcased that don't meet the current guidelines. And the editors normally tell the truth. If you can't write well enough, they'll let you know. Try submitting again in a different style.
Re: unsure about rejection
It could also be that the other work you saw posted on here was originally written for a public or private request and was just never purchased. CC makes exceptions to certain rules if the client specifies a certain style. I know there have been a few requests for literary reviews in the past. I also remember seeing numerous literary reviews on the "recently sold" list that were private requests.
Re: unsure about rejection
Thanks for all the replies, I will avoid this type of submission in the future.
Re: unsure about rejection
This was the first article I have posted and I think I was rejected but I'm not quite sure why. This the response I received.

I think I might have checked the wrong box. I thought I was responding to a request, but how do you know if someone else has not submitted an article ahead of you? It said you could not contact the requester until you had at least 5 published works.
I am new to this company so I could use a few tips before I try to submit again.
Any help would be appreciated,
wyntier

Yes, you checked the wrong box - a public request should be categorized because it may not sell to the requester and therefore go in the general pool.
That title is kind of strange. There should be no period in a title and the ; looks wrong but I can't tell you why.
